Effective April 1, where Mom and I live will be known as Summit's Trace Assisted Living. It will be one of several facilities in Ohio owned by Peregrine Health Services of Columbus. The only one I know anything about is The Convalarium where Merry McCuen worked as an interim administrator for several months about a year ago. I don't know when Peregrine took it over, but Merry says they spruced the place up and it is a nice facility. They also own Oak Grove Manor in Mansfield. I don't know anything about that place. Our mailing address will remain 935 N. Cassady Ave. Apt. 214, Columbus, OH 43219.

Hello,

I wanted to send everyone a link where you can see all of the pictures of Jack. Kevin updates this when he has time with new pictures. Jack will be two weeks old Friday and he has gained almost a pound since birth! He is such a joy and all I want to do is hold him and watch him because he is so cute! He takes a lot of time but is worth it!

Love,
Emily, Kevin and Jack

May Queen

I recently ran across an old Alpha Chi newsletter that included some information that some of you may not have known before. There were two headlines:

PEGGY HORR REIGNS AS QUEEN OF MAY
Judges, Senior Women Choose Alpha Chi As Most Beautiful

“Chosen by the vote of all the senior women on campus, Peggy Horr reigned as DePauw’s May Queen at the Senior Prom, May 1st.
“Peggy is one of three candidates selected from a group of twelve by three faculty judges: Professor Reid Winsey, Miss Ivey, and Dr. Carson. The original twelve candidates, one from each sorority house and dorm on the campus, were judged on the basis of beauty and queenliness. The three girls whom the judges seleced as having these qualities were then voted on by the women of the entire senior class.
“Jordan Shepard, president of the senior class, presented Peggy with her crown at the Senior Prom in Bowman Gym this year. Formerly, the president of AWS crowned the queen in the Dell behind Longden Hall. Cancellation of this traditional May Day program was due to food rationing which made it impossible to hold Mother’s Day this year.
“Peggy was attended by Dede Beem, Delta Delta Delta and Sue Clark, Kappa Kappa Gamma and a court made up of the eight other senior women candidates.
“In her four years at DePauw, Peggy has been a member of the Boulder and Mirage staffs, AWS, YWCA, WRA and Gamma Beta Tau. This year she was house manager of Alpha Chi Omega and in her freshman year was president of her pledge class. A threat to other sororities, Peggy led the Alpha Chi basketball squad to the finals this year, piling up an average of over ten baskets every game.”

Little Jack Krouse was born on March 13 at 9:27 in the evening and he weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces, exactly what Emily weighed. What a blessing and we thank God for Jack and for the love which surrounds him now, and till the end of time . . .

Some of you have more snow that we get, but this was a lot for Virginia especially this time of year - the most in March since 1980. Also set two record lows. Many, including us, lost power for from several hours (us) to several days. We had 12" in our back yard, and you can get an idea of the depth from this photo of our deck. Supposed to be in the 70's this weekend, so it will be all gone soon.

Picture & Promotion

Grandpa had asked for a picture of Jon and I a while ago, this is the most recent family picture we have of us, although Felicity has changed so much since then! We also have made the decision to move up to Akron in May for Jon to start a 12-month Accelerated Nursing Program to get his BSN. This is an exciting move for us. The program is designed for those who already have a bachelors in another area of study but are looking to change careers. Although we aren't looking forward to the actual packing of boxes aspect of moving we are excited to be that much closer to Jon's goal of being an RN and we're also excited to be so close to his parents who live in the Akron/Canton area.
As for me I have started an online business venture selling one of a kind hair clips for girls and babies. I know most of you don't have little ones running around but I thought you still might be interested in taking a peek. My website is www.sweetybaby.etsy.com They make great gifts as well :) So there's an update on our part as well as a shamless plug for my business :)
