Steve drove me to the VA clinic on Wednesday.   I had an appointent with an optometrist and a social worker.   I was impressed by both people and the optical equipment.   One test was on an optic nerve measuring device I had never seen before.    He said if he hadn't already been informed of my history, and he was seeing me for the first time, the test results didn't indicate suspect glaucoma or the need for eye drops.   Ocular pressure was only 14 in both eyes.   He suggested that I come back in a month for other tests.    I had been asked to bring copies of my living will and durable power of attorney for health care to show the social worker.    We also talked about the grieving process, and again I was impressed by the competence of this woman.   I also picked up a shiny copper colored adjustable cane the nurse practitioner had ordered when I was there the last time.    I won't use it to go to meals, but will when I go out.    It also helps moving around here in the apartment.
