Even more worrisome is what might be the tendency for offspring to behave in the same or similar ways as one or the other parents. I suppose there are studies of criminals or mean people to find the probable source of their behavior.

Yes, actions and words can be mimicked by children, hoping for acceptance. Many times if we say, "you are stupid, or you don't deserve something," a child begins to believe what they hear. On the other hand when we show love, compassion, and gratitude, they also try to emulate these too.
