Some more song lyrics I often sing to Mom:
"Memries, like the corners of my mind,
Misty water colored memries
Of the way we were.
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind.
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were."
And the last lines of the song:
"So it's the laughter
We will remember,
Whenever we remember
The way we were.
The way we were."

Great words to a pretty song with lots of meaning. Its interesting to me how a good lyric combined with good music has more power than either one alone. I still remember you, Dad, singing "Without a Song." Every time I hear that song, I think of you.

Mike,
If you Google "Without a Song", you can listen to Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra. Also, in the comments with that item, you'll note that the original version said, "A darkie's born, but he's no good, no how . . ." Something else interesting about the song is that Elvis Pressley quoted it in 1970 when he was accepting the award as one of the ten outstanding men in the US selected by the Jaycees. Can't remember exactly what he said, but he was sort of putting himself down compared to the other men getting the award, quoted some of the lyrics and said all he could do was "just keep on singin' my songs".

Dad,

That's wonderful that you sing those songs to Mom. I'd get too emotional! I even get emtional when I hear Christmas songs after Christmas! I'm pathetic! Ha! Ha!
