Happy Veterans Day!
Happy Veterans Day to all in our family who have served their country, especially in World War II. Here is Mom and Dad soon after they were married. The other is Sally's Dad, Alexander B. Curchin, Jr., who among other things was in Japan with MacArther during the occupation.

These words ring true today too:
Year by hear the complexities of this spinning world grow more
bewildering and so each year we need all the more to seek peace and comfort in
the joyful simplicities. –Woman’s Home Companion, December 1935

I cannot believe that the inscrutable universe turns on an axis of
suffering; surely the strange beauty of the world must somewhere rest on pure
joy. –Louise Bogan

With all the violence we see today we must remind ourselves that it is up to us to stay vigilant in promoting peace and unity now.
"There is no duty we so much underrate
as the duty of being happy. By being
happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world." –Robert Louis Stevenson

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a
second-rate version of somebody else. –Judy Garland
In this day of looking at models, actors and others, and trying to be like them, be yourself! As the current popular song says: "You be you and I'll be me."

I
believe that our friends among the dead really mind us and look out for us . .
. we might be able to link up in a very creative way with our friends in the
invisible world. We do not need to
grieve for the dead. Why should we grieve
for them? They are now in a place where
there is no more shadow, darkness, loneliness, isolation or pain. They are home. They are with God from whom they came. –John
O’Donohue from Anam Cara

The journey is the reward. –Chinese
Proverb
Life is to be lived and enjoyed now, without regretting the past or worrying about the future. Look around and see the beauty in what life offers and be grateful. For many of us Spring is here and the cycle of life shows everywhere in new colorful blooms along with green grass and leaves!

So much negative stuff from the media but it could be different if we focus on the positive:
How far that little candle throws his

world. –Shakespeare

Don't forget me.
When I lived at Summit's Trace, I got to know a woman whose mother lived there for a while. Sometimes she would stop by my apartment and we would talk about a wide range of subjects She had already experienced tragedy in her life. Her husband had suffered a fatal heart attack while playing golf. In the years since I moved to Mansfield, she has had a double mastectomy and had a bad fall. But she remains active in her church and still conducts tours of the Statehouse. She closed her recent note with, "Love to you and don't forget me." Never had anyone say that before, but believe not to be forgotten is a very human wish,

Much in the news about who is right and who is wrong, and many times there can be truth in each perspective.

right, is there not some reason to fear I may be wrong? –Jane Austen
