Happy Veterans Day!
Happy Veterans Day to all in our family who have served their country, especially in World War II. Here is Mom and Dad soon after they were married. The other is Sally's Dad, Alexander B. Curchin, Jr., who among other things was in Japan with MacArther during the occupation.

I
believe that our friends among the dead really mind us and look out for us . .
. we might be able to link up in a very creative way with our friends in the
invisible world. We do not need to
grieve for the dead. Why should we grieve
for them? They are now in a place where
there is no more shadow, darkness, loneliness, isolation or pain. They are home. They are with God from whom they came. –John
O’Donohue from Anam Cara

The journey is the reward. –Chinese
Proverb
Life is to be lived and enjoyed now, without regretting the past or worrying about the future. Look around and see the beauty in what life offers and be grateful. For many of us Spring is here and the cycle of life shows everywhere in new colorful blooms along with green grass and leaves!

Don't forget me.
When I lived at Summit's Trace, I got to know a woman whose mother lived there for a while. Sometimes she would stop by my apartment and we would talk about a wide range of subjects She had already experienced tragedy in her life. Her husband had suffered a fatal heart attack while playing golf. In the years since I moved to Mansfield, she has had a double mastectomy and had a bad fall. But she remains active in her church and still conducts tours of the Statehouse. She closed her recent note with, "Love to you and don't forget me." Never had anyone say that before, but believe not to be forgotten is a very human wish,
