A month or so ago Nate became a Major in our United States Air Force.  Our prayers go out to him and Andrew who give their whole selves for us and our country - the perfect sacrifice.  They had a good role model, you Dad!

Thanks for the posting, Mike.  I can't get a comment posted for some reason.   I'm pretty sure the picture was taken in the front yard of my parents home on West Third Street.   No recall at all about when it was taken.   It was one of a very few times I wore the white uniform.

These words ring true today too:

Year by hear the complexities of this spinning world grow more bewildering and so each year we need all the more to seek peace and comfort in the joyful simplicities. –Woman’s Home Companion, December 1935

Too bad there's not a place under Trump's and Clinton's names to vote, "Neither one of the above."
I don't know about the rest of you but I don't like either political candidate running for President  so it's time to put our hope and faith in a higher power.  God is the only one in charge, not any elected official.

I believe that our friends among the dead really mind us and look out for us . . . we might be able to link up in a very creative way with our friends in the invisible world.  We do not need to grieve for the dead.  Why should we grieve for them?  They are now in a place where there is no more shadow, darkness, loneliness, isolation or pain.  They are home.  They are with God from whom they came. –John O’Donohue from Anam Cara

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH!

The journey is the reward. –Chinese Proverb

Life is to be lived and enjoyed now, without regretting the past or worrying about the future.  Look around and see the beauty in what life offers and be grateful.  For many of us Spring is here and the cycle of life shows everywhere in new colorful blooms along with green grass and leaves!

HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY DANIEL & MELANIE!  (yesterday)

Saturday, March 26, 2016

Don't forget me.

When I lived at Summit's Trace, I got to know a woman whose mother lived there for a while.   Sometimes she would stop by my apartment and we would talk about a wide range of subjects    She had already experienced tragedy in her life.   Her husband had suffered a fatal heart attack while playing golf.    In the years since I moved to Mansfield, she has had a double mastectomy and had a bad fall.   But she remains active in her church and still conducts tours of the Statehouse.   She closed her recent note with, "Love to you and don't forget me."    Never had anyone say that before, but believe not to be forgotten is a very human wish,
